The Clyde River Steamer Club (CRSC) spring cruise presented a rare photo opportunity 11 June 2008. Sound of Scarba (unusual, for a Western Ferries vessel) turned up at Largs, and met her Fergusons' built sister Caledonian Macbrayne's Loch Shira.
Bulk carrier Iron Knight finally heading for Hunterston 11 June 2008. Unusually Kindeace is on the sternwith Warrior III rushing to catch up. The pilot really knew his job, turning the 'corner' and leaving the tugs to the last minute (maybe because they were late) . Some small yachts had to be reminded that steam does not automatically give way to sail when you are piloting some 74 000 + tons!
A first for me, tugs Kindeace and Ayton Cross were late attending for, and positioned inside, arriving bulk carrier Iron Knight (not that it mattered in the end, of course) 11 June 2008.
The delayed departure of Intrepid Clipper meant that tugs Ayton Cross and Kindeace had to race north to rendezvous with inbound bulk carrier Iron Knight 11 June 2008.
Bulk carrier Intrepid Clipper eventually leaves Hunterston for Tuburao 11 June 2008 after an extended delay caused by ??? Originally she was headed for Irvine Bay, but circumstances change. Her delayed departure caused some interesting scenes later (and the yachts played a part!).
